Technically speaking I suppose that super-powerful Humans is a change from super-powerful aliens. Not really enough of one.
I found the central ‘psychic humans make Kirk and Spock dance for their enjoyment’ plot dragged on way too long. The scandal of the episode, the first black-white kiss on TV, is difficult to even notice from this vantage point. In fact, the treatment of the little person character with respect and dignity probably stands out as more remarkable than the Kirk and Uhura kiss.
Nothing in the episode was particularly bad, but the plot device is worn out now, and the one interesting element (Kirk and Spock getting psychic powers of their own) wasn’t used to do anything particularly interesting.
65 down, 672 to go.
