I suppose it was about as good an implementation of that idea as we’re likely to see. There was some interesting bits of interpersonal drama, but the best that the episode could manage in terms of driving conflict was the Star Fleet attempt to take the daughter away. Which, honestly, didn’t even seem like that realistic a thing for Star Fleet to do.
So an awful lot of the episode is taken up with the blind leading the blind – Data trying to explain humanity which he doesn’t even understand very well himself. Which is OK as it goes, but just isn’t enough to make the episode anything to really remember.
