A nice excursion into a traditional high SF idea – the next step of evolution.
The thing that stood out for me in this episode was the willingness of the writing to give the events some time to develop. This episode unfolds over a longer period than any other episode I can think of, several months at least. That slow build up lends a sense of believability to Crusher’s relationship with John Doe that wouldn’t otherwise be there.
The downside of the pace was that this episode never had any sense of excitement, but from time to time it’s nice to have a bit of a slower pace. I know they’ll make up for it next episode…
180 down, 557 to go.
