Odo catches a strange Changeling disease.
This episode would have made a lot more sense if it had happened about halfway through the season. The major story arcs have been almost immobile, and the two big moves from this episode (Gowron might be a changeling, Odo is now human) could have helped a lot with that. Instead this feels like an admission that the change in direction tried at the start of this season has failed, so let’s get back to the plot that worked.
As a course correction it was a lot more serviceable than *Way of the Warior*. Garak in particular has a few nice moments. But we’re not given enough of a read of Odo’s new situation to know how much we should care, and the last minute revelation of the Gowron thing is a pretty cheap way to manufacture a cliffhanger.
