The crew are held captive on the Holodeck by the Hirogen.
This is the single best use the Holodeck has ever been put to. I’ve complained in the past about the many stupid holodeck malfunction episodes, and the otherwise distracting and pointless use of the holodeck when it’s working perfectly. Here they finally managed to get things to the point where I was a little disappointed to be cutting away from the Holodeck scenes.
It was also surprising to start the episode so far into the story here – I’d normally expect a full episode leading up to this point. Instead they identified the interesting bit (the crew as ‘themselves’, but without memories, in the WW2 French Resistance), and spent the time there. Great stuff.
