Kira digs into her mother’s past with Dukat.
Oh goody, *another* time travel back to the dark days of the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. It really hasn’t worked well so far, and I’m not sure why they chose to tell this story. Perhaps they were already regretting the new Dukat they created, and were using the opportunity to go back to the old Dukat. But there’s no insight into him.
All we get is Kira’s relationship with her mother, and the complicated decisions that you have to make in a war. Kira still doesn’t understand that sometimes you can’t be quite as pure and good as she wants everyone to be. And this episode doesn’t actually help her along that path at all. She’s as intolerant of ‘collaboration’ at the end of the episode as at the start, but with a ‘my mother’ exception.
