An on-time season review, will wonders never cease? Spoilers.
Overall I thought this was n excellent season of Trek. It could have been better – not enough is done with the changelings, and it’s a bit disappointing to be going back to the Borg story again. But the performances and overall story are excellent.
There’s also not too much in terms of weak points in the season. There are a couple of flatter patches, but nothing that dips down into ‘bad’. The overall pace of the season spends a lot of time on setup, and only a couple of episodes on delivery. But the plot mechanics add up pretty well.
Overall it’s a beautiful tribute to TNG, and it’s a fitting farewell. Of course, with no bodies dropped there are no guarantees. But it feels like the intended path out of the series is pretty clear, and seems like it would be a lot of fun.
I’m going to put this one right at the top of the rankings, just below Strange New Worlds.
