I’m going to assume the title is about a visit to the optometrist. Spoilers.
A ‘Tendi feels insecure’ plot is out of step with her development as a character. She’s an open person, and hasn’t shown signs of this intense competition before. The Tendi we’ve seen in most episodes would have been happy for T’Lyn to get the job. I’d actually have preferred an alternative episode where she was obsessively trying to make T’Lyn look good for the promotion.
But again, despite some weaknesses in the construction of the story the episode is a fun thing to watch. The Snell character is a bit weird and one note, but it still makes for a fun ‘stranded on a pre-warp planet’ plot. The episode makes some good use of a Data cameo as well, with him supporting but not driving the plot.
Boimler and Rutherford really just get to do some slapstick in the background, but it’s very well done so I’ll forgive that part too. Some great mania to their actions. Although surely this is a ‘backup transporter ready to go’ type of scenario for Starfleet.
Quick hits:

Boimler’s beard is coming in well.
-
If they’re only gone for a second (according to the plan) then won’t they be back for Taquito night?

Love the Vasquez rocks in the background of the planet.
-
There are some very clumsy ‘passage of time’ edits in this episode.
