OK, that’s it. My suspicion about the writer’s doing the deliberately bad opening to good episodes is pretty much confirmed, as an excellent Klingon episode is started with Worf’s son showing up.
(And that’s certainly a justified view – most of the Alexander episodes are, from memory, pretty bad).
The only thing I didn’t like in this episode was the way they killed of Suzie Plakshon’s character – she has been great in the two episodes she had, and it’s a pity to have her part cut off. But everything else was great. I’m inordinately fond of the Klingon mythos episodes, for reasons that I’ll have to remember to discuss in my review of the season finale.
Great Star Trek moment: the first appearance of the iconic Klingon weapon, the bat’leth.
